iPhone 16 Pro pre-order delay to Oct, models impacted

Apple opened pre-orders for the iPhone 16 and 16 Pro this morning. If you didn’t manage to be among the first batch of buyers, it’s advisable to make that purchase decision promptly. September 20 is the official release date, but it seems that the most popular models have now been postponed to October. Here’s what you need to know.

After a short while since pre-orders opened, it’s become crystal clear which iPhone 16 models are in high demand, or at least have the shortest supply. However, Apple has been following this pattern for a long time now, and with the same model lineup, the availability can be a good indication of what’s actually selling the most. The iPhone 16 Pro Max is the model that is the scarcest in availability. Currently, there are no Pro Max models available, regardless of color or storage tier, for launch day delivery. On the other hand, the iPhone 16 Pro still has some availability for delivery on September 20, but it depends on the color and storage option you choose. 512GB models seem to be selling out the fastest. If you’re looking for a basic iPhone 16 or 16 Plus, there is still a plentiful supply at present.

The color finish that is the most “new” this year is desert titanium. However, there is another color that is currently dominating the sales. Black titanium is the clear favorite among early iPhone 16 adopters. At the time I am writing this, the black titanium iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max models are the hardest to obtain. Across nearly all of the various storage options, the delivery dates have slipped beyond launch day. Many are saying it will be in October, and it could be further postponed before long.

Black iPhone 16 Pro Max, 256GB. I placed my preorder on Monday and smoothly completed the ordering at 8:01 A.M. EST. The delivery is scheduled for September 20th! This year’s process went very smoothly!

Overall, in terms of availability in the sales market, black titanium is followed by white titanium as being difficult to obtain. Desert titanium generally has more availability compared to both of these colors. However, this may be because Apple has prepared more of those models, expecting them to sell well. So it doesn’t necessarily reflect true popularity.

Wrap-up

If you’re in the market for an iPhone 16 Pro or Pro Max, you need to act quickly before the delivery dates are further postponed. For the smaller Pro, depending on your model configuration, some launch day delivery options are still available. Unsurprisingly, the non-Pro models don’t necessarily attract the early pre-order adopters as much. If you’re in the market for an iPhone 16 or 16 Plus, you should still place your order soon, but as of now, you can still get same-day delivery.
